After years trying his hand in numerous occupations – from cooking to carpentry, camp directing to dentistry – Dane settled into teaching at CVIS during the 1997-1998 school year. Initially, Dane instructed reading. Then science was added along with a civics/current events course. Eventually, he team taught the upper elementary grades until CVIS grew into a middle school. He now teaches all subjects in the middle school with the exception of music, art, and one math level.
Dane especially enjoys teaching at CVIS. The school affords him the opportunity to establish deeper relationships with his students as well as use his creativity in developing curriculum. Dane appreciates the variety each day presents and is grateful for being able to teach in an atmosphere that is so conducive to student success.
Upon completing his B.A. in chemistry at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, Dane obtained his D.D. S. from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He returned to school in 1993 to get his teaching degree from Eastern Montana College, now the University of Montana, Billings. He resides in Union Valley, outside of Chelan, with his wife, Jeannie Kapple, and his children, Malena and Rowan. He especially enjoys sports, reading, traveling, and music.
