Shay LaCasse

Even though teaching preschool is a new experience for me, I have a diverse experience in teaching! I graduated from Western Washington University (2001) located in Bellingham, Washington, with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. I also majored in English as well as obtained a Reading Endorsement. After graduating & student teaching in a 1st grade classroom, I was hired at Echo Lake Elementary (Shoreline School District). At Echo Lake I taught 3rd grade and then looped with those group of students to 4th grade. I then taught 4th grade for three years and eventually moved to 6th grade. I have also obtained my Professional Teaching Certificate in 2007.  So now I am adding preschool to my repertoire and even though they are 3, 4 and 5 year olds – they are every bit determined to learn as any older students I have had!

As for my personal life, I have an awesome husband, Cale. He is a general contractor for his own company, Lone Peak Custom Homes & Design. Even though we have been living in the area for the past 3 years, we just recently finished building our own home here in Chelan. We are excited to become a more permanent member of this community. Cale and I have two beautiful daughters, Olivia (5- going on 6) and Campbell (2 years old)!

I am not a Washington native but have lived here for the past 12 years while going to school and teaching.  My family is from Columbia Falls, Montana, which is near Glacier National Park in the Northwest corner of Montana.  So I try to visit Montana whenever I can!

When I’m not at school, I like to do a lot of outdoor activities.  Cale, Olivia, Campbell and I enjoy backpacking, hiking, water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, and traveling. On top of all that I like to squeeze in taking pictures, scrap booking and sewing.

I look forward getting to know all of you student’s interests and personalities.  Please feel free to contact me at any time during the year with questions, comments, or concerns.  I welcome any teamwork I can get!!
